Come and spend the afternoon with Petr Nikl!
Playful sound-poetry workshop.
Petr Nikl is a comprehensive artist realizing his rich imagination through paintings, performances, singing, theater, graphics, and various combinations of traditional art forms. His previous work includes also curatorial activity, stage direction and conducting the orchestra.
Petr Nikl used sound in his performances from the beginning, either the sound of various curious devices, or the sound of the human voice. Later performances were accompanied by singing. In 2004 he recorded together with musical ensemble Lakomé Barky album Nebojím se smrtihlava, in 2006 a double album Přeslenec and then two more music albums. He staged a puppet ballet based on the music of W.A.Mozart also.
Nikls´ artworks are accompanied by social interest, and finding the actual meaning of contemporary art. It is only natural that his playful temperament led him to human playfulness as a natural field in which the general public can understand contemporary art . In 2000 he designed and staged a large collective exhibition "Hnízda her" in Rudolfinum, which caused extraordinary interest in visitors. Continuing this concept he realized a project in the Czech exhibition at the World Expo in Aichi in 2005, and Orbis Pictus exhibition at the Czech Centre in Paris in 2006. His last project was the large interactive exhibition "Play", which opened in late 2010 in Prague at Manes.
